I’m a Nut!- BIG NEWS
Yes, I’m sure you already knew that I’m a bit quirky.
But I bet you didn’t know that….
I can eat nuts and sesame!
I’m not allergic!
Now I can eat: Pecan Butter, Peanut Butter, Cashew Butter, Walnut Butter, Almond Butter, Pistachio Butter, Falafel, Hummus. etc. Can we say shopping trip?
This morning I went to the Allergist. But I’ll save that story for later. Leave ya hanging a bit.
I made my sister one of those Dough Boy smoothies yesterday because she just couldn’t bring herself to get that tooth out.
The poor thing couldn’t chew anything, so I mixed two packs instant oatmeal, a scoop of my strawberry froyo and some milk.
She didn’t finish it.
So I did. Crime? Heck no.
So I did. Crime? Heck no.
I had it with my current favorite: toast with my new wonder spread: Sweet potato, Greek yogurt, SNB, cinnamon and this time I added some oats for some more carbs (I’m having a bit of trouble with these). Mix and spread!
G can sure put on a pout. She crawled on the floor and talked with her teeth clenched so her tooth wouldn’t dangle.
Gosh I was glad when she came to me while she was doing her homework with the largest smile- with tooth in hand!! I’m so glad the thing is out. I’d previously told my mom that I was going to go in there while she was asleep and yank the thing out myself but I guess the word got to her. She yelled at my last night from upstairs; “Hannah! You’d better not come and pull it out while I’m asleep!” I laughed.
and restrained myself.
I’ve got a great picture of her with the tooth, but my camera batteries are both dead. Tomorrow you’ll get to see her smiling face. Boy is she a cutie!
My foot injury has come back. Only this time I’m pretty sure it is tendonitis or something, because it throbs when I’m sitting and hurts when I put weight on it. My Dad took a look at it as well and said that is probably what it is. So I’m wearing my ace bandage again and heating it with a hot corn bag as I sit here. Poo. I’d hoped to go running or long-walking.
So back to the allergist. All he did was ask me a bunch of questions and prick me for all nuts and sesame. We waited 20 minutes in the waiting room while I wasn’t allowed to itch.
yeah. good luck with that.
I did a good job of distracting myself and when 20 minutes was up the allergist looked at my arms and found one of them to be all welted up.
Any guesses?
sweet and brown?
these!
Hazelnuts!
No Nutella for me. Thank goodness I find it too sweet. Chocolate SNB holds my chocolate top place. Although I can’t say I’ve ever tried Dark Chocolate Dreams…
We went to the grocery store, of course, to buy all sorts of things that I thought I couldn’t eat before.
So when I got home, I had an idea…
I know! I’ll try Peanut Butter for the first time!
Verdict: I like it, but SNB and SSB still hold firmly at the top of my list. I think I’m going to have to keep trying it.
I basically sampled it with everything in my kitchen for lunch. Verdict there is that it goes well on everything. Typical for nut butters
We got great loot at the grocery store!
This isn’t all of it, of course. But it is all the exciting things. The usuals like carrots, broccoli, peppers, lettuce, etc, aren’t listed.
I’m more concerned about….
Almond Milk!
Bear Naked Vanilla Almond Granola -I had a great free coupon for this through Stonyfield Rewards!
Kashi GoLean cereal- I’ve missed this stuff SO BADLY! and 13g protein? I’d forgotten what a nutrient bomb this stuff is.
Stonyfield plain- for yogurt cheese, of course- I had a coupon for this as well.
Cabot Greek Yogurt, vanilla- My sibs want more froyo. This one will be raspberry flavored. To come!
2 Okios plain Greeks- I had more free coupons for these. Good thing, because they were originally $5.79 each!
Parsnips! Eggplants! -for roasting!
Buttercup Squash- this has yogurt and nut butter written all over it.
Banana flavored polar water- this looked cool. I’m a sucker for fancy flavors + sparkling water…
A huuuuge pack of portobello mushrooms. So excited to grill these up!
Another soy nut butter- cause it’s still my favorite and I’d never seen that brand before.
Smart Balance Crunchy Peanut Butter- I know this wasn’t the best one to get but I had a coupon and the ingredients list isn’t bad. Have you guys tried this kind? What did you think? I also had a Sunland Banana one I got for 99 cents from Deals and Steals.
A Dragonfruit!- this was just sitting there all by itself on top of some kiwis. I picked it up and tossed it into the cart. Does anyone else think it looks a bit like a fancy goldfish?
We got four packages of strawberries, and one each of blueberries, blackberries and raspberries. Can’t wait!!
Kashi GoLean + Berries + Silk Pure Almond? PLEASE
We also got 2 pears, 4 apricots, 2 plums, 3 peaches and 4 nectarines. This sounds like a lot? Keep in mind we have 5 members of our family.
I also found a Pink Lady!
It seems to match my cheeks.
I’ve heard you all talk so much about these, I was psyched to find one! Can’t wait to try it. Any suggestions for the best way to eat it?
So as of right now, this is my nut butter collection.
The little one is the delicious Roasted Maple Pecan Butter Whitney sent me from her giveaway! this. stuff. is. so. good. Thanks so much Whitney!! YUM!
So basically I feel like this.
biggggg smile
Only I’m not a cat…..
tomorrows breakfast is destined to be oats in a jar made with the PB jar I made my mom save in case I wasn’t allergic to nuts. So excited!
Love,
The Nutty Nut, Hannah
EDIT: OMG I CAN NOW EAT THE PEANUT FLOUR I BOUGHT AHHH

Thats so exciting! Not being allergic to all of that opens up a whole new world of deliciousness!
And I’ve never had dragon fruit but it looks so pretty. And thats how I pick produce.
As for the pink lady- slice that baby up and dip it into one of your new nut butters! OR dip it into your sweet potato, yog, SNB combo you spread on toast! Yes pleeezee.
I am so excited for you, as we were talking about before
I can’t wait to hear all of your new recipes with nut products incorporated in!
YES! Now I can send you Larabars in your swap package (which is going to be sent soon, I promise!)! And ick I don’t like Nutella either! Don’t eat Nutella on a crepe before getting on a 6 hour overnight plane ride (yeah…it was bad…).
Yay pink lady apples are so yummy! And now that you can eat nuts you should try nut butter on a banana! Congrats on the good news, I’m really happy for you!
Megan
yay for nuts
but seriously girl, you need to keep fighting your ED really hard. You look lifeless in your pic, to be honest, and so much of your food is such low calorie stuff. 0% dairy, the lowest cal almond milk you can find, fruits and veggies. Of course they are great yummy things, but where are the grains, tortillas, wraps, BREADS? hopefully along with the nut butters you cook with butter or oil type things, and full fat coconut milk is awesome. Love your blog and it is so sad how pitiful you look and eat tho. Best wishes!
Thanks for your concern J, but this was the groceries for my family. My mom hasn’t been able to drive for 2 weeks so we’d run out of the fresh stuff.
I appreciate your concern and had a really good meeting with my nutritionist yesterday. And I’m coming to the breaking point with my ED- I cried myself to sleep last night because I just want to be DONE!
That’s such exciting news!
Looks like you had a great grocery shop! I love going to the grocery store. My house also has 5 people living in it too, so when we go (a lot) we have to buy a lot too!
ACK! Girl I’m SO happy for you! This is so similar to what I went through, too! I’m allergic to peanuts, but my parents raised me thinking I was allergic to all nuts so I wouldn’t get confused, and it wasn’t until I was about 24 that I figured out I could actually eat all the other nuts. I still remember having my first taste of nut butter… omg it was heaven.
YAY! I’m so happy for you!! I don’t know what I’d do without my beloved nut butters
I only recently met Mr. Sunflower Seed Butter and I think we’re going to elope to Vegas haha
Hey and I saw a dragon fruit for the first time at the grocery the other day! I was too scared to test the waters, so you’ll have to tell me how it tastes!!
hh not before I get off with sunflower seed butter first!! It remains the favorite. We’re breaking open the dragonfruit today so I’ll let you know!
YAY!! That’s so awesome
Now you can have peanut butter and almond butter and sunflower butter and pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts and cashews!!
First stop, peanut butter cookies?
yeah well I was already having sunbutter because it wasn’t a nut. and I’m allergic to hazelnuts but that’s the only one! I’m making pb cookies for my sister’s girl scout thing tonight.
Woot woot! I’m so happy for you!
Bring on the nut butters
THAT IS SO AWESOME! You are gonna have so much fun trying all sorts of things with nuts! You have got to try cashew butter! It is to die for!
yeah I’m actually really excited for that one!! such a pretty color!
that’s great news about your allergies! You should try your peanut flour in a smoothie, so good!
I love the combo of 1 frozen banana, 1 cup almond milk, and 1/4 cup peanut flour!
so excited about peanut flour!! I bought 2 bags in anticipation of not being allergic. haha glad I actually wasn’t
So glad to hear from you Astrid!
Welcome to the world of nut butters!!! You will soon be super addicted and prob wish you were still allergic lol. I am not sure what I did before almond butter!
Yay for nuts! Personally, I don’t like the Smart Balance version at all so I’m interested to see what you think! My favorite is Crazy Richards peanut butter.
And keep on with the carbs! So important for LIFE. I’ll write more soon, but I’m crashing!
verdict: gross and fake tasting. I should be more careful even though I have coupons. I’m using it to make cookies for my sister’s girlscout thing later. haha ewww
Good! I’m glad you agree!
You bought soo many amazing things!! Enjoy them all and come up with some great recipes!
)
Tendonitis is terrible, I suffered from it while travelling through Norway and it almost made me cry on some days, because we had to walk like 20 kilometres daily and I think you could imagine the horror my leg was going through.
That´s great you can eat nuts!! Nuts are amazing thing, I put them in sweet and savory meals either, they make the greatest snacks and such. Also enjoy your nut butters and the peanut flour, I have heard amazing things about it

Congratulations! That’s so great. I know so many people with nut allergies and it’s a challenge for sure. Glad yours is limited to hazelnuts!
You mentioned 2 of my favorite things and I eat them together! Vanilla Cabot Greek Yogurt (well, I am a Cabot girl
and GoLean Crunch. It’s my go-to breakfast mixed together. Sometimes, I even add berries!
Thanks from our 1200 farm family owners (and me) for buying Cabot!
Cabot has amazing products that are made so close to home!! I’m a big fan of all your cheeses and hadn’t previously tried your yogurts but we just bought the cabot vanilla- I love the bean flecks in it!! thanks for checking out my blog
Nutella is seriously SUCH a hard one for me to turn down! Once my spoon dips in there, its almost IMPOSSIBLE for me to stop. Once I finish this last container I am DONE and never buying it again!
I am so so excited for all of your new nut butter adventures! I am so happy for you
Scott
Yes!!! I’m so excited for you. That’s great news. Let me know what new nut butters you like!
I’ve only tried PB thus far and I’m a bit ify on it. Not sure whether I love it or not. It’s okay, certainly. Still love love love soy nut butter and sunflower seed butter though!
YAY for not being allergic to nuts!!!!!
I’m so darn happy for you! Pink Ladies….just eat them by themseleves – they’re perfect as they are
CONGRATS! You get to go NUTS! YAY!!!!!! Hazelnut is overrated — glad you can have the other yummies now! =)
Congrats! Now you can try Larabars. [You mentioned you haven't tried them on my blog.]
this is true!! Exciting indeed!
How awesome for you! I can’t imagine not being able to eat peanut butter OR peanut flour!! I love peanut flour and use it in soooooo much. If you haven’t tried it yet, you must soon!
I’ve got two bags that I stockpiled before I even knew if I was allergic or not. haha talk about excited. Good thing I wasn’t- it’d have been painful to give it up…
